Hello LifePoint Church Family,
We would like to provide you with an update on the path forward for developing the 1.3-acre church property. (You can keep reading or watch the video update below).
“Many thoughts are in a man’s heart, but it is the counsel of Yahweh that will stand.”
Proverbs 19:21
So, in all that we share, we desire God’s will to prevail.
A Brief Background
As we highlighted during our congregational meeting, God has blessed the church with continuous growth over the last six years, to the point that we all recognize our sanctuary, even with five services, has reached capacity in several of those services.
Church leadership, after much prayer, believes God is leading us to build a new, larger 400-plus-seat Sanctuary on the new property. The church has hired an architect using building funds previously given through your generosity to develop a concept plan, which we presented at the congregation meeting.
Since the congregation meeting, we have created a webpage, lifepointtucson.com/building, with additional information and answers to frequently asked questions.
Next Steps
The next steps, which are fully funded, include conducting a survey, developing a native plant preservation plan, and completing a formal site development plan, which will be submitted to the county for official approval. The development plan is as far as the project is currently funded.
Once additional funds are received, the next step in the process is to complete and obtain county approval for a site grading and utility construction permit. This step (along with all future steps required to complete the project) is listed on the building webpage, along with the estimated funding requirement for each step.
Additional Points to Highlight
A few additional points to highlight are:
- When it comes to the type of building that is constructed and who would actually be doing the work, we are nowhere near having a definitive approach or answer to that question. The building options range from metal to fabric to traditional brick-and-mortar buildings, with varying costs.
- The labor decisions range from a turnkey contract, where the contractor does everything, to a hybrid approach, as we did with our current sanctuary, where the contractor accomplishes the specialized, licensed construction, and our own congregation undertakes much of the finish work.
- We also need to point out that if these next steps are not fully funded, any donations will be used to pay off the church’s existing debt.
- The final point to note is that all these decisions are being thoroughly investigated, reviewed, discussed, and, most importantly, prayed over as we continue to advance God’s kingdom through LifePoint Church here in Catalina, Arizona.
